The Troy Police Department arrested two men on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 231.
Chief Danny Barron said an officer spotted a vehicle displaying a switched license plate and conducted a stop. During the stop, the officers reported they smelled marijuana and had probable cause to conduct a search.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officers seized approximately 13 grams of suspected fentanyl, marijuana and methamphetamine.
Dexter Harris, 44, and Tyler Reed, 59, both of Pike County, were arrested. Both men were charged with trafficking fentanyl and second-degree possession of marijuana. Reed was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
“The Troy Police Department remains committed to aggressively pursuing individuals who traffic dangerous narcotics in our community,” said Barron. “Fentanyl continues to be one of the deadliest drugs impacting communities across the nation, and removing these substances from our streets helps protect the lives of our citizens.”
Harris and Reed were booked into the Pike County Jail. They are considered innocent until proven guilty.
