A man is charged with domestic-violence strangulation in Baldwin County after he tried to strangle his wife, according to court documents.

Daniel Hernandez-Lopez, 32, was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections on Tuesday, following the incident in Foley late Monday.

Authorities said the victim’s 13-year-old intervened, and that’s when the suspect lunged at the boy. The boy began punching Hernandez-Lopez in the face multiple times until he became unconscious.

Hernandez-Lopez is not a U.S. citizen, but it is unclear if he is in the United States illegally. The judge in the case approved a $30,000 bond that must be accepted by the sheriff.

Hernandez-Lopez is considered innocent until proven guilty.
