The Dothan Police Department arrested a man after he was accused of forcing a teen into a hotel room.
Stephen Spencer Ayers, 46, is charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual abuse.
Police were dispatched to the hotel in the 2100 block of Ross Clark Circle just after 1 p.m. on Sunday. They attempted to contact Ayers, a resident of the hotel, and he ran from them to the second floor, where he was surrounded.
Witnesses told investigators Ayers touched the teen inappropriately then forced her into his room. Housekeepers intervened and rescued the victim.
“Crimes like these will not be tolerated,” Dothan Police Chief William Benny stated. “The Dothan Police Department will hold those who commit these crimes accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Ayers is being held in the Houston County Jail with no bond.
