The Foley Police Department is investigating a double-fatal crash involving a pickup truck and two teens riding an electric scooter.
Officers responded to the scene on County Road 65, south of Airport Road, around 9 p.m. Sunday.
Brandon Alexis Esquivel Palencia, 19, of New York, and Cesar Ariel Villatoro Chavez, 18, were killed when the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado hit the scooter.
Police said the driver attempted to avoid the scooter but lost control and came to a rest in the woods. The driver was not injured and is not being charged at this time. Investigators said the driver did not show signs of impairment.
“The next of kin were able to be located and notified this afternoon,” police said in a press release. “Our hearts go out to the families and all involved in this tragic accident.”
Police said traffic in the area could be delayed due to the ongoing investigation.
