HUNTSVILLE — Conservatives gathered together Sunday to honor Charlie Kirk at a memorial event hosted by the Tennessee Valley Republican Club in Huntsville.

Those in attendance offered prayers for Kirk's family and the nation and viewed a video highlighting the life and legacy of the founder of Turning Point USA. Members of local Republican groups, including a collegiate chapter of Turning Point USA, delivered speeches and short remarks.

"I joined Turning Point USA when I started as a freshman at UAH last month because I truly believe in this country," one member told the room. "I believe that God is working in this country in my lifetime, and I want to be a part of it."

"That's why I followed Charlie Kirk. That's why this stuff has hit me so hard, because Charlie was one of the biggest voices for Christianity and the values that Americans hold dear, probably second only to the President. I believe that his mission will not end with him by any means, that his death has only made it grow bigger and stronger, and that surely within my lifetime we will see a full-on revival in this country."

Lisa Williams of the Tennessee Valley Republican Club urged fellow conservatives at the gathering to support organizations like Turning Point USA to honor Kirk.

"These young people are so smart," said Williams. "Our generation, we know things, but their generation, they're living it. Contact the local chapters, sponsor them, help them and fund them. We honor this man who had a dream and didn't quit. Even in his death, he has not quit. Because we're all here together."

The Tennessee Valley Republican Club meets on the second Monday of each month at Straight to Ale – Campus 805, 2610 Clinton Avenue W, Huntsville, AL 35805.
