Terry Waters knocked off State Sen. Greg Albritton (R-Atmore) in the Republican primary for State Senate District 22 on Tuesday.

Waters, a political newcomer who campaigned on an anti-gambling platform, defeated Albritton, the chairman of the Senate General Fund Budget committee and sponsor of multiple gambling bills, by a 52% to 48% margin, according to unofficial results on Tuesday night.

District 22 includes portions of Mobile County, Escambia County, Baldwin County and all of Washington County.

The district is also home to the Poarch Creek Indians, Atmore, Alabama's only federally recognized tribe.
