U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) has secured another major endorsement in his campaign to become Alabama's next U.S. Senator.

On Wednesday, the congressman from the Wiregrass region announced that he has gained the support of Vice President JD Vance. The VP's endorsement follows President Donald Trump's own declaration of support for the Republican made in January.

Following news of the endorsement, Moore spoke to 1819 News about the VP's support.

"The good thing about the endorsement is it shows the entire administration is with us, and I think it just builds momentum on what we're doing," Moore said. "We got President Trump's in January, so we got the vice president's obviously this month."

"For us, I think it just builds on the momentum. That's the benefit of it," he continued. "It just shows that the entire White House and President Trump is with us. We're only going to have 24 months after the midterms, when this election ends, to finish the President's agenda. So it'd be nice to have fluid flow there so we can continue to do what the America First agenda needs to begin to cross the finish line."

Moore added, "Having the VP on board and having a relationship with him, he knows he can trust me, just like the President does, so I think it's a win for us."

According to Moore, he received notification of the endorsement on Tuesday evening.

"I think I got the notification maybe last night. I knew there were talks. I was going to try to meet him at the White House. He was on the road, and so I think he was traveling yesterday, but we heard it was in the works, and he and I were supposed to talk. We'd already had met. We'd known each other, and he'd seen me, and I think the President endorsing me just says, "Hey, this is the guy we need."

"So, I found out just a little bit before the public did," concluded Moore.

Moore is running to fill the seat currently occupied by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who is running for governor instead of seeking re-election to the Senate.

The primary in the race is scheduled for May 19.
