The 2026 World Cup has come to North America, and European soccer fans are embracing American culture.
One fan, Freddy from Germany, has made his way to SEC country, including an eye-opening visit to Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium for the Argentina-Iceland friendly match.
Freddy's documented journey across the American South has garnered millions of views on Twitter.
After a "10/10" experience at a Georgia Waffle House and intertubing on the Chattahoochee River in Tennessee, Freddy made it into Alabama.
The German soccer fan later posted that he made a pit stop at a Marathon gas station in Heflin, adding that he didn't want to take the Interstate so he could see what Alabama truly had to offer.
Just hours before the soccer match, Freddy posted that he loved Americans because a hotel receptionist offered to drive him and his friends to Jordan-Hare Stadium rather than letting them walk there in the rain.
Freddy then made his way into Auburn for an experience he described as "the most 'The European mind can't comprehend this'" moment of his life. Auburn's athletics department put on a show for the soccer fans by making it feel like a Saturday football night game.
Auburn held its traditional Eagle Flight and Swag Surf for the fans, leaving the German fan impressed.
After the game, Freddy toured Auburn's campus and was unable to experience Toomer's Lemonade, which everyone had recommended, because Toomer's Drugs had closed.
With Toomer's Drugs closed, the visitor pivoted to Buc-ees in Auburn for a late-night snack and a true American experience.
Auburn's athletics department documented Freddy's tweets and called him "one of us," to which Freddy replied with "War Eagle!"
The German soccer fan will continue on his journey to Houston, where his home country will play Curaçao in a friendly match on Sunday.
