On Wednesday, President Donald Trump delivered a national address to provide an update on the war with Iran, which he said was nearing an end.

According to Trump, the United States is nearing its objectives under Operation Epic Fury, including destroying the Iranian Navy and Air Force, dismantling its missile capabilities, preventing it from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and weakening its ability to sponsor terrorism.

"Thanks to the progress we've made, I can say tonight that we are on track and the country has been eviscerated and essentially is really no longer a threat," he declared. "This is a true investment in your children and your grandchildren's future. The whole world is watching."

"Tonight, I am pleased to say that these core strategic objectives are nearing completion," the president added. "We think especially of the 13 American warriors who have laid down their lives in this fight. ... Now, we must honor them by completing the mission for which they gave their lives."

Following the address, Alabama Republican lawmakers U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) praised Trump for his leadership.

"President Trump has made it clear that the United States will not be taken advantage of any longer," Tuberville wrote on X. "The days of the United States hitching our wagon to weak-minded countries that believe in socialism and communism are OVER. Our values come from God and set us apart from every other country on earth. Thank you President Trump for giving our country back to the TRUE Americans. True leadership on display tonight. God bless America."

Aderholt stated, "President Trump spoke with great strength tonight about the threat posed by Iran and the progress being made to protect America and our allies. Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon or continue to threaten its neighbors, America and the world. I stand firmly with President Trump and our brave men and women in uniform as they carry out this mission with courage and resolve. May God bless them all."

Ahead of the speech, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, commended Trump for speaking directly to the American people regarding Iran.

"I look forward to hearing the President speak tonight and commend him for addressing the American people directly and transparently about our mission in Iran. His decision to act against Iran's radical regime was critical given the threat it posed to U.S. security. I'm grateful to our brave servicemembers for the exceptional work they're doing to successfully carry out the President's clear military objectives and make the American people safer."
