Tuesday on Fox Business Network's "The Evening Edit," U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) addressed the possibility of yet another government shutdown orchestrated by Democrats.

The lawmaker told host Elizabeth MacDonald that, should another shutdown occur, it will likely be tied to proposed additional funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and to Democrats' disdain for President Donald Trump.

"Well, there's going to be a fight, but I don't know whether we can stop it," Tuberville said. "They've got to give us some votes to keep this open. It's just unfortunate, you know, this will be the second one they shut down. They did the first one. They tried to blame us. Now they're going to do this over the Department of Homeland Security. It's already been funded through the Big, Beautiful Bill."

"It's not going to affect [DHS], but it is going to affect FEMA and the TSA agents. So at the end of the day, they don't know what they're doing. They're just fighting Donald Trump. They're not trying to get to shut it down. They're just trying to shut Donald Trump down."

Tuberville referenced Trump's recent conversations with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz regarding immigration enforcement operations in the city, while attacking Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's "plan" for America.

"It's going to be a shutdown because they hate Donald Trump, the Democrat communists, they cannot stand Donald Trump making progress," continued Tuberville. "He's making all kind of progress. You know, he's even got the Democrat mayor and governor from Minnesota talking to him. Now he's a communicator. Just talk to the guy. But Chuck Schumer can't talk to anybody. He has one plan, one plan to run this country into the ground. We're not going to allow him to do it."

"The American people will step up, and I can't wait for the midterms next year, because they're going to get run out of dodge," added Tuberville
