On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) argued that the Democrats pushed for the release of the Epstein files as part of a "psychological issue" they have with President Donald Trump, who ran in similar circles as Jeffrey Epstein way before the President got into politics.
Both the U.S. House and Senate voted to pass a measure ordering the U.S. Department of Justice to release its files on the late sex offender, which Trump says he will sign.
With Epstein and Trump having a relationship, Palmer said the only reason that Democrats wanted the files released was because "they're obsessed with Trump." He pointed out that Democrats were using the government shutdown to attack the President.
"Well, I think from the Democratic perspective, their only reason for this is Trump," Palmer, who voted to pass the measure, stated on "Alabama's Morning News with JT." "They're obsessed with Trump. Everything that they do, and we'll have a markup today on energy bills, and at some point, they're going to attack Trump."
"It's a psychological issue with them now," he continued. "He is so badly in their head. I even think the whole shutdown, they tried to make that about Trump. I think they saw the progress we were making. We passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, Working Families Tax Cut, whatever you want to call the bill now, and they saw that we were actually getting things done. We were doing what we said we would do, and they shut us down to kill our momentum and to compress our schedule. But it's all about Trump."
With some information from the files being redacted by the left, Palmer urged caution because Democrats were redacting information "to make it look like it involved Trump."
"Well, some of the stuff that the Democrats released that were redacted, they redacted it," he noted. "It wasn't redacted in the original file, so they redacted it to make it look like it involved Trump. And even CNN called them out on that. So, people better be prepared for the lies that are going to be coming out of this. This is, again, it's a psychological issue with them."
