Thomasville Mayor Sheldon Day said the Thomasville Hospital is closer to reopening.

The Clarke County Circuit Court approved the sale of the hospital property to Prestige Thomasville LLC, organized by JMF Solutions Inc. of Baldwin County. The sale is expected to close in June. The new acute care hospital will open shortly thereafter.

The hospital closed in September 2024. North Avenue Capital, the primary lender for the hospital, has been working with stakeholders to find a new operator for the facility.

Out of nine entities, JMF Solutions was chosen.

“It is clear to me that Thomasville is a special place that serves a large and vibrant rural community,” said Prestige’s principal officer, Mike Francis. “This Hospital and medical facilities property is vital to the community, and we are blessed to be a part of it. The Thomasville community has a commitment to excellence, which we fully intend to uphold. The passion my team has experienced with the city’s leadership, especially regarding healthcare, is contagious and inspiring.  We want to be part of that. We truly believe our team and Thomasville have an opportunity to create a new model for rural healthcare.”

The City and its Health Care Authority were involved in the process.

“We have always envisioned something special for our city,” said Day. "Rural hospitals face challenges throughout the country.  We believe that with new ownership and some key partnerships, we have an opportunity to create something special here in Thomasville.”

Thomasville’s hospital was previously owned and operated by Thomasville Regional Medical Center, LLC (“TRMC”). It will reopen with the hopes that many previous employees will return.
