The race for Mobile's open mayoral seat is heating up. A public forum will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Hill Spring Baptist Church in West Mobile.

The meeting is organized by Eagle Forum of West Mobile. No ticket or RSVP is needed.

Three candidates for mayor of Mobile will make presentations and answer questions. They are Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson, former County Commissioner Stephen Nodine and former Mobile Police chief Paul Prine.

Other candidates for Mobile mayor include former public safety director and police chief Lawrence Battiste, former District Judge Spiro Cheriogotis, state Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile) and former City Councilman Jermaine Burrell.

The Mobile municipal election for mayor and city council seats is on August 26. Candidates must qualify by June 10 to run. Incumbent Mayor Sandy Stimpson is not running again. A new mayor will be inaugurated in November.
