Fears of a supply chain shortage caused a toilet paper shortage in 2020. Experts said the shortage was caused by the hoarding of toilet paper, not the supply chain issues.

"Sam's in Tuscaloosa is out of Paper towels and Toilet Paper," one woman posted. "Tell me why the CrAzY hits and people buy all the Paper products...Im Surprised they have used all of their Covid Toilet Paper purchases."
Major toilet paper brands, including Charmin, Cottonelle, Quilted Northern and Angel Soft, are manufactured in the United States. Port closures at ILA member terminals would likely not impact the supply of these brands.
Shortages from the strike were not expected to be noticed for weeks or months.
