Former Hanceville Police chief Jason Marlin pleaded not guilty and waived his right to an arraignment in connection to a corruption case that led to the disbandment of the entire police department.
Marlin is among six charged after a Cullman County District Attorney's investigation.
Marlin, officers Cody Kelso, Eric Kelso, Jason Wilbanks, William Shellnutt and an officer's wife, Donna Kelso, were indicted on multiple charges.
The City of Hanceville is now in the process of finding a new police chief and hiring all new officers. In the meantime, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office has taken over public safety duties in Hanceville.
Marlin’s trial is scheduled for September 15.
Shellnutt, Eric Kelso, Cody Kelso and Donna Kelso have also pleaded not guilty and waived their arraignments.
Eric Kelso's and Donna Kelso's trials are scheduled for August 18.
Shellnutt's and Cody Kelso's trials are scheduled for September 15.
Wilbanks has not entered a plea. His arraignment is scheduled for March 21.
