The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) released information on a deadly crash that claimed the lives of three teens in Cullman County.

ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is investigating the crash that happened during a police chase on Friday, November 11.

Investigators said the 17-year-old driver of a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck was attempting to elude a Hanceville police officer. Around 1:10 a.m., the truck ran off the road, hit a tree and caught fire. The crash happened on Alabama 91, approximately three miles east of Hanceville. Three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle but not killed. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The names of the teens killed have not been released, but ALEA said there were two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old killed in the wreck.

The crash is still under investigation. ALEA has not released information about why the driver of the truck was running from law enforcement. There is no word on possible charges or if an arrest has been made.
