The Cinderella run continues for the Troy Trojans baseball squad.
With a sweep of Little Rock in the Troy Super Regional in front of a reported 13,459 fans across two days, the Trojans are now headed to Omaha to play in the College World Series.
Troy defeated Little Rock 12-2 in game one on Friday and then punched its ticket to Omaha with a 7-2 win on Saturday.
The Trojans displayed their power in game one, led by Jabe Boroff, who had his second multi-homer game of the postseason, giving him six homers in the NCAA Tournament. He has 11 on the season.
Troy got six strong innings on the mound from Benjamin Stubbs, who limited Little Rock to two runs on six hits and struck out five without a walk. The Troy pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts without a walk as Zach Crotchfelt tossed a pair of scoreless innings before freshman Matt Dill threw a scoreless ninth.
In game two, starting pitcher Tommy Egan went 7.1 innings, striking out eight hitters while limiting Little Rock to five hits, two walks and two runs.
The offense set the pace early, with a two-run top of the first inning. Troy continued to add on to its lead by scoring a run in each of the next two innings to go up 4-0. Aaron Piesecki drove in the game's third run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning, and Steven Meier added another run with an RBI single in the fourth.
Josh Pyne extended the lead to 5-1 with an RBI single in the seventh. After Little Rock trimmed the deficit to 5-2, Blake Cavill delivered a two-run single in the ninth to provide insurance. Pitcher Noah Thigpen recorded the final five outs to earn his third save of the season.
The Trojans are just the third Sun Belt Conference team to reach the College World Series, joining 2000 Louisiana and 2025 Coastal Carolina.
Troy opens its run in the College World Series against West Virginia on Friday. Game times have not yet been announced.
