A government funding continuing resolution backed by President-elect Donald Trump failed to pass the House on Thursday.
Lawmakers have until Saturday morning to pass legislation funding the government to avoid a partial shutdown. Every Republican member from Alabama supported the continuing resolution, which was opposed by U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham).
"I voted yes for the American Relief Act because this CR is a necessary solution to provide immediate support to our farmers and disaster victims who are facing serious challenges, it also highlights the need for accountability in our budgeting process," U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said.
"Thanks to @realDonaldTrump , @elonmusk, and @VivekGRamaswamy for their efforts in killing the initial 1,500-page monstrosity filled with the swamp's woke and wasteful spending requests. This new deal would have provided essential aid to those who put food on the tables of American families. We cannot continue to let political games obstruct help for our producers and those recovering from natural disasters. It's time we start funding our government on time and one bill at a time to prevent backroom deals that lead to unnecessary spending. Back to the drawing board to put America First."

Thanks to…
U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said, "I plan to vote yes on the new CR proposal. It avoids the problems of the previous version, it has President Trump's approval and it prevents a government shutdown at Christmas."

Sewell said, "Donald Trump and Elon Musk may not know what it feels like to miss a paycheck, but it is Alabama's working families who will pay the price for their reckless shutdown."

House Republicans should stop taking orders from billionaires and start putting working families first!
