U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) secured the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate on Tuesday.

Moore defeated former U.S. Navy SEAL Jared Hudson by a 59% to 41% margin in the runoff, according to preliminary results. Moore won 153,433 votes to Hudson's 107,903 votes with 76% of the vote reported.

Moore was backed by President Donald Trump, Senate Republican leadership, and Club for Growth.

Moore told the media after the race was called, “It was a spirited race for sure.”

“It’s a walk of faith for us,” Moore said. “It’s amazing what the Lord can do if you humble yourself before him and seek him in what you say and do.”

Hudson said in a statement on Tuesday night, “Every time I look at my beautiful family, I’m reminded that tough battles are always worth fighting."

"This battle did not go our way, but there will be more. This wonderful country deserves our best effort, and it has been my honor to join with so many to give it a shot," Hudson said. "I want to sincerely thank every single person who helped us. We visited every county in Alabama twice and we spoke with countless patriots who love this place. Thank you to my wife and my girls. You are the people who drive me every day. Alabama first — and always.”

While Moore will have a Democrat challenger in November, Tuesday's results likely mean Alabama will have two senators with Enterprise roots starting in 2027.

The Senate seat is open due to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) running for governor instead of seeking re-election.
