President Donald Trump signed into law a bill on Friday sponsored by U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) that blocks the Biden-Harris administration's last-minute attempt on Christmas Eve 2024 to ban tankless natural gas water heaters.
Palmer said, "I am honored to witness President Trump sign my common sense legislation into law."
"This is a reversal of the previous administration's attempt to remove the American people's choice in appliances, in this case, water heaters. I thank President Trump for signing this bill, and I look forward to seeing how we can continue to work on behalf of the American people in the future," Palmer said in a statement.
Trump criticized the Biden-era rule at the bill signing on Friday.
"And this was on gas heaters? Isn't that ridiculous? And how were you supposed to get your heat then? Through electric? Was that basically it? Electric heat, which isn't as good. Crazy," Trump said. "No sense, but in addition to that, you have a lot of workers who lose their job, right? Crazy."
