Days before the state’s Republican primary runoff election, President Donald Trump reaffirmed his support for former Republican Party chairman John Wahl in a call to Alabama voters, saying Wahl has his “complete and total endorsement.”
The former ALGOP head is slated to face Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen in Tuesday’s primary runoff to determine the party’s nominee going into the November election.
Wah swiftly received Trump’s endorsement in the race, with the president crediting him for the massive MAGA voter turnout in the state in three presidential elections, stating Wahl has “been with us from the very beginning, and has been key to our many Republican Victories.
On the call to Alabama voters, Trump again praised Wahl, saying, “John Wahl is a terrific guy,” adding, “I hope you know that he has my complete and total endorsement.”
Wahl reiterated his appreciation for Trump’s support, claiming it was in stark contrast to the “Montgomery insiders and special interest PACs” that have lined up behind “career politicians.”
“I am honored to have President Trump’s endorsement,” said Wahl. “President Trump has never backed down from fighting for the forgotten men and women of this country, and I will bring that same fighting spirit to the Lieutenant Governor’s office. Alabama deserves conservative leadership that will stand up to the insiders, cut taxes, defend our values, and put the people first.”
