U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) announced on Tuesday he was running for re-election to the Senate in 2026.

Tuberville told CNN, “Yeah, I’m running. Yeah, I'm getting on up there. I don't know how many more times I'll run, but I enjoy it.”

“I want to find out what it's like to be in the majority. When you’re in the minority, you just get kicked in the mouth every day, you know. And we’ve been kind of sat on the back bench. Now it’s time to take over, see what can be done with President Trump,” Tuberville said.

Tuberville,70, had previously been connected in media reports with various cabinet positions in the Trump administration or even a possible gubernatorial bid in 2026. He said last week he planned on staying in the Senate to “champion Trump’s agenda.”

He was first elected to the Senate in 2020.
