Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) announced on Monday morning that he will not be seeking a third term in office as governor. The decision from the 2024 vice presidential candidate comes just weeks after an independent journalist documented evidence of widespread welfare fraud across the state.
Shortly after the announcement, conservative lawmakers across the country, including U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), cheered Walz's exit from the race.
In a statement issued to 1819 News, Tuberville attacked Walz's liberal policies and accused him of "turning a blind eye" to the massive welfare fraud taking place in Minnesota.
“Tim Walz has given Gavin Newsom a run for his money for ‘Worst Governor in America,'" Tuberville said.
"Under Walz’s watch, Minnesota was designated as a ’trans refuge’ state and passed laws allowing doctors to perform sex change procedures on children," he continued. "Walz sat on his hands during the George Floyd riots while Minneapolis burned, costing taxpayers more than $500 million. And, most recently, he turned a blind eye while BILLIONS OF DOLLARS were stolen from American taxpayers by Somalian criminals."
According to Tuberville, Walz's decision to drop out of the race doesn't go far enough to address the fraud enabled by the Democrat.
"Walz doesn’t deserve to ride off in the sunset—he should resign IMMEDIATELY and be indicted," Tuberville added.
