U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) recently blamed the Democratic Party's rhetoric for the second attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

Nearly a week ago, the suspected would-be assassin, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, posted up with a rifle at a golf course in West Palm Beach, Fla.

According to reports, he was unable to get a shot off before himself taking fire from the Secret Service after spotting him through the thicket.

This was the second attempt to shoot Trump during his presidential campaign. The first was in July when the former President was hit in the ear at a Pennsylvania campaign rally after a shooter climbed a nearby roof.

The attempt led to a wave of support from Trump acolytes, while the mainstream media downplayed the attempt, instead drawing attention to the perceived harmful rhetoric of Trump and his vice-presidential pick, JD Vance.

In contrast, Tuberville told reporters this week that the aspersions cast on Trump from Democratic operatives can directly be tied to the multiple violent attempts on the former president's life.

"The problem is, if you look on the side of President Trump, he's been called Hitler, a Marxist, a threat to democracy, not just for the last year but all through his presidency, even when he was running for president the first time and running for president the second time," Tuberville said. "It's a disaster. A lot of this comes from these people up here that don't have anything to talk about on their side that they've accomplished because the Democrats haven't accomplished anything. Everything has gone South for the American people and our country for the last three-and-a-half years. So, hopefully, we can get away from this rhetoric from the Democrats against President Trump. They've tried to impeach him twice. They've tried to arrest him. They've invaded his home in Mar-a-Lago. They've tried to bankrupt him. Somebody has tried to assassinate him twice. All they can do is call him names, but President Trump is doing real well in the polls, and we look forward to getting him elected."

Tuberville also reiterated his criticism of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for failing to provide adequate security for Trump, especially after the first attempt.

"As usual, this is a Biden-Harris leadership problem," Tuberville said. "Sadly, in the days since the assassination attempt, we have seen zero accountability from President Biden, Harris or [Homeland Security] Secretary Myorkas. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent, we should all be able to agree that our leaders, especially former presidents and those running for president, should have the best security in the world. Folks, we are at DEFCON One. Even third-world countries know how to protect their leaders better than us. It's pitiful. To say the least, President Biden and Vice President Harris need to immediately give President Trump the same presidential that they have. Their silence is deafening. We still haven't gotten to the bottom of what happened last time in Butler, Pennsylvania. We don't want a 10,000-page report that we won't see for two years. We want action to protect President Trump today."

He continued, "One assassination attempt is way too many. The fact that there have now been two attempts on President Trump's life is an embarrassment to our democracy and everything America stands for."
