President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced with an apparent no penalty on Friday in his hush-money case.

Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan's ruling convicts Trump but does not impact his impending presidency.

Trump declared victory, saying the sentence of an unconditional discharge proved his case should be dismissed. He announced he would appeal.

"It's been a political witch hunt. It was done to damage my reputation so that I would lose the election, and obviously, that didn't work," Trump said via video at the sentencing.

He later wrote on Truth Social, "Today's event was a despicable charade, and now that it is over, we will appeal this Hoax, which has no merit, and restore the trust of Americans in our once great System of Justice."

In statements on X, U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) echoed Trump's sentiments, agreeing that the American people made it clear by re-electing Trump that it was time to end political prosecutions.

"Judge Merchan had his 15 minutes of fame," Tuberville declared. "Democrats RIGGED WITCH HUNT is finally over. The American people overwhelmingly elected President Trump, and he will usher in the GREAT AMERICAN COMEBACK in 10 days."

Britt stated, "The American people made it clear in November that the political persecutions have to stop. It's past time to end the weaponization and return to focusing on safety and security."
