Recent reports of suspicious activities by the Democrat fundraising group ActBlue have many calling for an investigation into the liberal-leaning organization.
Newsmax reported that ActBlue was reportedly accepting donations from foreign-purchased gift cards through September, potentially opening the door for adversarial countries to funnel money to their preferred candidates.
In an interview with Newsmax TV that aired Thursday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) echoed calls for a full investigation into ActBlue.
"It's foreign influence there," Tuberville said. "And what they're doing, too, is they're using people's names that have given a few a small amount of money and putting $15 to $20,000 behind that name. They've been caught many, many times."
Tuberville said the Department of Justice will prioritize investigating this situation when President-elect Donald Trump takes office in January.
"We've got a different DOJ now, or we'll have in about 35, 36, 37 days. And so that is going to be at the forefront. We've got to get behind and find out what's going on," he added. "There's no way that they can raise that much money in that short period of time."
