U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and ESPN's Paul Finebaum are set to headline an event to raise funds to help reduce the millions of preventable injuries sustained by young athletes each year.
Alabama's CoachSafely Foundation, which specializes in policy advocacy, research and science-based education to advance its mission of reducing injury in youth sports, will host an event in which Tuberville, former Auburn football coach, Finebaum and foundation president Bill Clark, former UAB head football coach, will highlight the state’s recent success in strengthening the Coach Safely Act and discuss what’s to come in the foundation’s next chapter.
Clark was named president of the foundation in March.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, at the Vestavia Country Club. There will be a 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour and VIP reception followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner and programming.
The dinner event will be a story-rich discussion with Tuberville, Finebaum and Clark, and JOX 94.5 Birmingham anchor Pat Smith will serve as the moderator.
"As our advocacy and education efforts expand across the country, Alabama continues to lead the nation in youth sports safety. We’ll raise a glass to our great state’s recent success in strengthening the Coach Safely Act," the foundation stated.
According to a press release, "Drew Ferguson, past CoachSafely president and pioneer in Alabama sports medicine and athletic training, will be posthumously honored by CoachSafely founder, Jack Crowe."
