U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) announced on Wednesday his full-throated support for President-elect Donald Trump's pick for secretary of defense and Trump's other appointments as he gears up to transition into the office in January.

Trump wasted no time in making appointments to his second presidential cabinet. The picks must still receive congressional approval. However, since the Republican party claimed both legislative houses along with the presidency, it is unlikely that any will fail to get the nod.

The most notable choices thus far are U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) as secretary of state, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) as attorney general, veteran and Fox News Host Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as Homeland Security secretary, U.S. Rep. Matt Waltz (R-Fla.) as national security advisor, former Hawiain U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence, former CIA director John Ratcliffe to reclaim his former role, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel, U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) as UN ambassador and former ICE Director Tom Homan as border czar.

While some of Trump's picks have caused protest across the political spectrum, most MAGA loyalists have expressed resounding support for Trump's picks.

On a Wednesday call with reporters, Tuberville expressed unilateral support for the cabinet picks thus far, speaking especially glowingly of Hegseth since that particular appointment gained significant moaning from the D.C. establishment.

"I've agreed with every one of them," Tuberville said. "I knew most of them were coming. I've met and been around them during the campaign. The recent one, which was a little bit of a surprise to a lot of people across the country – not me – Pete Hegseth, the Fox News Anchor who's been on Fox News, I guess I don't know, five [or] 10 years.

"But he's from [the] Midwestern part of the country. He's Ivy League educated, Princeton and Harvard. He worked on Wall Street. He was in the Army National Guard as an infantry officer. He volunteered for two combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded two bronze stars. And he joined after 9/11; that's the reason he joined. He served this country honorably for more than 20 years. And he's a tireless advocate. I mean, he advocates big time for veterans and veterans' issues."

He continued, "I think Pete is the right person. He's not from the Pentagon, and we need to start cleaning the Pentagon out because it's nothing but a bunch of DEI, woke generals that are doing nothing but absolutely ruining our military. Now, we have a few good people over there. But we got way too many that have been brought up in the ranks that are teaching and pushing the woke-ism and the DEI education to our military, and that needs to stop. We need to build back our military, and we have no time to waste."
