U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) on Wednesday ripped the NCAA's recently passed participation policy for transgender student-athletes.

The NCAA announced on February 6 the Board of Governors voted to update the Association's participation policy for transgender student-athletes following the Trump administration's executive order. The new policy limits competition in women's sports to biological females only. The policy permits biological males to practice with women's teams and receive benefits such as medical care while practicing. The policy is effective immediately and applies to all student-athletes regardless of previous eligibility reviews under the NCAA's prior transgender participation policy.

However, Tuberville said in an interview with NEWSMAX's The Brooks Breakdown the policy still has too many loopholes.

"The NCAA continues their streak of being gutless. They have no clue in terms of really working for the young men and women that are involved in the NCAA. They want to appease everybody. You can't do that. Just go by the law. President Trump made it illegal for men to participate in women's sports. Look what the NCAA did: they came out and said, 'Oh, we're going to do that, but we're still going to allow them to practice, allow them to dress in the dressing room, take showers with them.' It's ridiculous. A lot of people were real excited at first, but again you start reading between the lines here, the NCAA they just can not make a decision that is going to be for men and women only. It's going to be made for supposedly all the DEI woke nonsense that's out there that Democrats have been pushing for the last four years," Tuberville said.
