The new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is the “best thing” President-elect Donald Trump has done so far, according to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).
DOGE will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Musk and Ramaswamy said in a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Wednesday, “We are entrepreneurs, not politicians. We will serve as outside volunteers, not federal officials or employees. Unlike government commissions or advisory committees, we won’t just write reports or cut ribbons. We’ll cut costs.”
Tuberville said in an interview on Fox Business Network's “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” on Friday the federal government has to cut back on its deficit spending.
“I think this is the best thing that President Trump has done to this point, putting these two in charge of going after fraud and overspending and oversight. Just look at the military, seven audits that haven’t passed muster. We have got to find out where all this money is going. Probably about $4.7 trillion that comes into our bank every year from the taxpayers of this country and we spend $7 trillion. We can’t continue to spend $2 trillion more a year than we bring in and we’ve got to cut back,” Tuberville said.
