Following news of FBI deputy director Dan Bongino's resignation, conservatives across the country, including U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), are praising the former Secret Service agent and conservative commentator.

During a call with reporters on Thursday, Tuberville called Bongino a "true patriot" and thanked him for his service at the bureau.

"I've talked to Dan several times, and the big thing for Dan was, he wanted to help in any way he possibly could with President Trump," Tuberville said. "Kash Patel and Dan had their hands full when they took over an FBI that had basically become something other than the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

The senator told reporters that while Bongino has benefited the FBI, he looks forward to seeing him once again in his former occupation.

"Dan has done a great job," Tuberville stated. "He has done it almost for a year now. We appreciate his service. A lot of people get in for a short period of time to give what they can put into it and then go back to their old jobs. So we thank Dan for what he's done, how he's done it, and we look forward to listening to his podcast."

"He's straightforward and believes this country is the greatest on the face of the earth, which we all do," added Tuberville.

Bongino reportedly considered leaving the FBI in July after an argument with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the release of the Epstein files. His resignation is effective beginning in January.
