The "One, Big, Beautiful" reconciliation bill will likely undergo some changes in the Senate after having passed out of the House last week, according to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).
Tuberville told Fox Business Network's "Kudlow" on Wednesday that he was confident the bill would eventually pass after undergoing some adjustments.
"There'll be several changes," he said. "There's several people that don't like the Green New Deal subsidies that's still in it. The work requirements for Medicaid start years down the road; they don't start immediately. There's several small things. They're not big things… It'll eventually pass, but it's not going to stay status quo as we speak just coming from the House to the Senate."
Tuberville said he would be in favor of the bill, which includes tax cuts and reforms across the board, to encourage growth in the American economy.
"If President Trump wants to build this country, you make opportunity zones all over the country, and you also bring down corporate tax. That would bring people just flocking back in. We have to get people to work, Larry. That would help us in a lot of areas, and would also have growth… If we don't grow the country, it doesn't make any difference. We have to grow this country."
He continued, "Make it simple. The problem is we make everything so dang complicated. Make it simple. Let people understand what they're going to have today and what they're going to have 10 years from now. If you do that, you'd have more growth. You'd have more people getting involved in it. But there are so many ups and downs in the federal government, especially the IRS and tax brackets that we have, most people don't understand them."
