Despite facing a wave of criticism, appointees for the incoming Donald Trump administration continue to receive hearty support from U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who continues to meet with the nominees ahead of what promises to be a contentious confirmation process in the Senate.

Trump has undoubtedly made waves since winning a second term in November’s presidential election.

Most recently, he tapped Kashyap "Kash" Patel to head the FBI.

In addition to Patel, Trump’s more controversial picks include former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as U.S. Attorney General, environmentalist and healthcare advocate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as head of Health and Human Services, veteran and Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense and veteran and former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence.

On Monday, Tuberville met with Hegseth and one of Trump’s less controversial picks, U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), as UN Ambassador. Tuberville seemed happy with the meetings, saying he discussed Trump’s “America First” agenda and policy priorities for the upcoming administration in both meetings.

“Pete Hegseth will be a great Secretary of Defense,” Tuberville said. “He is a decorated veteran and a true patriot. As I told him, we don’t need a General Officer, Admiral, or a ‘person of high command.’ We need a Drill Sergeant in the military. We need somebody to straighten the military out – to get the woke, DEI affiliation out. I know he is the right choice to bring change and renewed focus to the Pentagon.”

Tuberville has long been a critic of the UN, even calling for all U.S. funding to be cut off last year after the UN declined to pass a resolution that would have condemned the Hamas attack on Israeli civilians.

After meeting with Stefanik, Tuberville was optimistic she would be a good advocate for the United States and its financial interests with the UN.

“Enjoyed meeting with Rep. Elise Stefanik this afternoon to discuss how we can get back to peace through strength. She will do a great job advocating for Americans and their tax dollars at the U.N.”
