On a call with reporters Thursday morning, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) gave President Donald Trump complete credit for brokering a peace deal between Israel and the terrorist organization, Hamas.

“He's strong-armed Hamas and put pressure on Israel,” Tuberville said. “Everybody needed to work together, and it turns out our enemies take America more seriously when we have a strong president in the White House. Earlier this year, when President Trump ordered strikes on Iran, I think that sent a message to Hamas.”

The lawmaker called for Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.

“I'll tell you right now, President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for this, but not just for this, for all the other wars he's stopped in the last eight months,” Tuberville said.

He pointed to freeing the hostages as the central focus of the first phase of the peace agreement and noted the terrible conditions prisoners were kept in.

“It’s a 20-point plan; this is the very beginning. Number one thing is to get the hostages out of this torture chamber that they're in,” Tuberville emphasized. “Hamas has put them in tunnels and pipes. It is absolutely atrocious what they've done to these people.”

“This has gone on way too long, and it all is coming together because of Donald Trump,” he added.
