Tuesday, during an appearance on Newsmax TV's "Rob Schmitt Tonight," U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) continued to make his case for U.S. Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) to fill the void soon to be left by outgoing U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Tuberville argued against the secret ballot process, which is set to take place later on Wednesday.

"Well, it should be transparency because the people of your state need to know where you're at," he said. "And surely, to goodness, people will come out and say, 'Well, I either voted for Cornyn or Scott or Thune.' I think that's the way it should work. You know, that's the reason I came out. The people of Alabama just hammered my emails, my phone calls. They want Rick Scott — somebody that they know is going to support President Trump the whole way through tougher, tough times, hard times, easy times — they want him to be the choice."

"So, I work for the people of Alabama," he added. "I don't work for me. So that's the reason I came out and representing Rick Scott ... to be leader and to change things, the way we do it now. And I'll tell you, if he's the leader next time we have a leader vote, it won't be a secret ballot."
