After announcing his bid for Alabama's next governor on Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is boasting of a record over $2 million in fundraising efforts within the first 24 hours.

Tuberville's announcement, while expected, brought a flurry of reactions from both sides of the political aisle. Despite the Alabama Democratic Party threatening to challenge his residency requirements in court, the former Auburn coach is already a frontrunner among virtually everyone who might run.

While not official, the state's Republican establishment appears already to be rallying behind Tuberville as the presumptive nominee, a speculation supported by Tuberville's fundraising numbers from the outset.

According to Tuberville's campaign fundraiser, Jackie Curtiss Cox, the would-be governor managed to clear $2,064,723 during the campaign's first 24 hours.

"There are two universal truths in the Yellowhammer state right now: Alabamians love President Trump and they want Coach Tuberville to be their next Governor," Cox said. "I've never seen momentum like this in my more than ten years in Alabama politics. Coach Tuberville broke the Alabama fundraising record in the first 24 hours of his campaign. Importantly, these were not from PAC donations — every dollar came from small business owners, entrepreneurs, workers, and retirees. From the Wiregrass to the Shoals to Sand Mountain to the Gulf Coast of America, every corner of Alabama is fired up and ready to fuel Coach to a landslide victory in November 2026."
