Saturday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel's "The Big Weekend Show," U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) weighed in on pushback from Republican lawmakers against a previously announced $1.776 billion settlement in the President Donald J. Trump v. Internal Revenue Service lawsuit spurred by the leak of Trump's tax returns.

Tuberville suggested that one of the motivations for Republicans to speak out against the settlement was U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy's (R-La.) loss in the Louisiana Republican primary earlier this month.

"[O]ne thing I want to say is, we do not stick together, unfortunately, like the Democrats do," Tuberville said. "But here is what happened — obviously had an election this past week. We had one of our senators that's been there for a while that President Trump did not endorse. He lost his seat. Things got personal. They got personal real quick. I don't love it was Todd Blanche or that weaponization built that they wanted to add to reconciliation, I think there were just some hard feelings. But it is usually the same ones, usually the same ones. Most of them really do not like President Trump."

He continued, "They don't like that he is an outsider. And we just have problems. It was like a romper room and there this past week. It's just unfortunate we are not working for the American people. We need to forget our personal differences and go back to work. We should be working today. President Trump is working. All of the Cabinet is working. What a great weekend to work on the days that we are honoring the people who died for this country — my goodness, and we have personal feelings on her shoulders, and that is not right."
