U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) will be joining President Donald Trump at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Sunday.
Tuberville announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he would attend with the president to cheer on Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes' attempt to win his third-straight Super Bowl, his fourth overall.
Alabama's senior U.S. Senator said he got to know Mahomes while coaching at Texas Tech, but he never coached him because he left for the University of Cincinnati before Mahomes stepped foot on campus.
"As a coach, you start recruiting and working with players years before they get to college," Tuberville wrote on X. "Patrick Mahomes was one of the best players I ever had the opportunity to recruit and get to know."
"Looking forward to cheering him on this weekend when I join President Trump at the Super Bowl," he added.
This will not be the first time the former Auburn football coach has attended a game with Trump. Last year, the duo met in Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama beat Georgia 41-34.
