On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) blasted former President Joe Biden's handling of the Ukraine-Russia war, which he said the previous president could have stooped "day one."

With Ukraine and the United States approaching an agreement on a framework for a deal that would include access to Ukraine's mineral resources to repay the United States, Tuberville shot down the notion that U.S. troops would be sent to Ukraine. He also emphasized the importance of keeping American missiles, bio labs and CIA bases out of the European nation and letting both Russia and Ukraine get back to normal.

"I don't think you're going to see U.S. troops in Ukraine," Tuberville said on a call with the press on Wednesday. "You know, President Trump has been adamant about that. They need to defend their own territory. We've helped them monetarily over the last three years. Unfortunately, we've spent way too much money; we got way too many people killed on both sides. Vladimir Putin is a dictator. He's done some crazy and terrible things over his lifetime, but he runs the country of Russia, and he does not want NATO on his boundaries. And that is what this whole thing was about. It could have been stopped day one with Joe Biden, but for some reason, he was a warfighter. He believed in fighting wars and pushing NATO toward Russia."

Alabama's senior U.S. Senator also credited President Donald Trump with pushing to end the ongoing war.

"President Trump is a dealmaker. He is a peacemaker. And he hates war," he outlined. "So, he wants to get this over with. He wants the Ukrainian people to pay us back for the money that our taxpayers sent to Ukraine. A good way to do that is through the minerals. ... But we have to make sure there is a buffer zone between NATO and Russia, and that's going to be Ukraine."

"At the end of the day, we do not need American missiles in Ukraine. We do not need CIA bases in Ukraine. We do not need American-owned biolabs in Ukraine. We don't need soldiers in Ukraine, and right now, all of those except the soldiers are happening. And so, let's clean it out. Let's let Russia get back to their business of running their country, Ukraine do the same thing, rebuild, let's be repaid for the money we've spent and go on with life. that's what this is about. And President Trump is the only one that has even talked and considered this in the last four years, so thank God he's in office," Tuberville added.
