On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) spoke at the American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance in support of bringing manufacturing back to the United States, including Alabama.
Tuberville, who is seeking the Republican nomination in Alabama's gubernatorial race, said in an interview that he planned to grow the state. He also commended President Donald Trump's efforts to bring manufacturing back to the
"Whether it's overseas, Europe, Asia or in this country alone ... what President Trump is doing is working because manufacturing in other countries see the light at the end of the tunnel," Tuberville said in audio provided to 1819 News. "They have to move back, and that's the reason that these tariffs have to work."
"And we'll grow in Alabama," he continued. "That's one of the reasons I told President Trump when I decided to run for governor. He's sending the power and money back to the states and more authority, and so we're going to take advantage of that. And being the governor, being the CEO of the state, I look forward to pushing that narrative and helping our state grow like the rest of the states across the country. We have to win this battle. This is a game we have got to win. We can't tie. We have to win. We have to win the battle of tariffs across this great world that we live in."
"But everybody wants what we have, and by doing that, they're taking advantage of the things that we do. We can't allow that to happen. We have to be the statue of the world of showing people this is how you do it. This is a free world, this is a free country. You can have the opportunity, but we have to be given the opportunity and not be stolen and cheated," he concluded.
