Governor Tuberville?
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) won a Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce straw poll measuring support among members for who they want to be Alabama’s next governor on Wednesday, according to WTVY.
Governor Kay Ivey is term-limited from running for re-election.
Among 136 responses in the poll, 49% favored Tuberville compared to 33% for Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth. Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate and former U.S. Ambassador Lynda Blanchard rounded out the poll with 11% and 4%, respectively, according to the outlet.
Ainsworth and Pate have both said they’re considering running for governor in 2026. Regarding her potential run, Blanchard told 1819 News last summer, “It’s always a possibility.”
Tuberville told reporters last week that he is excited to continue his term in the Senate but will "never say never" on a possible run for governor.
