It all started after an armed carjacking in Clanton.

A white Dodge Charger was stolen from a victim and shortly after, a search for the two people involved began. According to Carol Robinson, with al.com, the individuals were driving the Charger and an Audi SUV. After being spotted on Interstate 65, the two continued to try and escape police. Meanwhile, other agencies joined in the chase.

Clanton Police Department (CPD), Chilton County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), Alabama State Troopers, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Birmingham Police Department, Jemison Police Department, Thorsby Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency were all involved in the pursuit.

The vehicles led police north on I-65, then onto I-459 to I-59/20 before exiting onto Tallapoosa Street in Birmingham.

The Charger pulled over on a sidewalk near 49th Terrace North and 49th Court North, and the driver fled. Meanwhile, the Audi SUV got away.
