MOBILE — The Mobile Police Department is investigating after a child was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident.

The two-year-old reportedly ran into the street Sunday night on Hass Avenue around 8:30 p.m. The vehicle was reportedly traveling eastbound when the child was struck.

Cpl. Ryan Blakely said by the time police arrived. The driver had fled the scene. Police told 1819 News they have no identifying information on the vehicle involved in the incident.

The child was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Police determined the injuries were life-threatening. There is no word on the current condition of the boy.
