The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office recently announced the arrest of a 36-year-old Foley man accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 over the last year.
Marcus Hunter Thomas was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Escambia County, Florida, following a month-long investigation by the sheriff's office.
In January, after obtaining information about the potential abuse, Elberta police requested help from the sheriff's office's Criminal Investigations Division.
Investigators say they interviewed the victim and reviewed evidence leading to charges of first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.
Upon his arrest, Thomas confessed to the abuse. He is awaiting extradition to the Baldwin County Jail.
