U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) announced on Wednesday that he is joining the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus in the House to support President-elect Donald Trump's mission to cut government waste.
After Trump's successful election, he announced the formation of a new advisory commission headed by X founder and Trump surrogate Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) analyzes federal government spending and proposes cuts to inefficient or wasteful programs.
DOGE’s formation was scorned by Democrats and those on the left. However, many Republicans welcomed the new idea as a way to cut frivolous government spending.
Amongst those are U.S. Reps. Aaron Bean (R-Fla.) and Pete Sessions (R-Texas), who promptly sent letters to House colleagues asking them to join the new Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus to “reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.” Specifically, the Caucus is meant to support DOGE's mission to “dismantle the out-of-control Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies.”
Proud to join the DOGE Caucus led by co-chairs @RepAaronBean and @PeteSessions.
