Despite Republican detractors in the U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) is still hopeful for the passage of the so-called "big, beautiful" spending bill backed by House Republicans and President Donald Trump.
Strong told Huntsville television's Fox 54 in an interview that aired Saturday that the legislation was part of an effort to "hit the reset button for America."
He said, "If you take a look at this bill, I think the vast majority of the people I represent, the three-quarters of a million people here in Alabama, understand that we're trying to hit the reset button for America, understanding the $36 trillion debt is pushing America to the edge of the cliff. We've got to stop it now."
"I support the bill, pray that the Senate takes it up, makes modifications to it, makes more cuts," Strong continued. "Let's pay this national debt down and stop giving this money to these foreign countries that hate America."
