As President Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon of his son, Hunter, continues to send shockwaves in Washington, some Republican lawmakers and talking heads are arguing the fatherly gesture could backfire.
On Monday, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) joined WVNN’s “The Dale Jackson Show” to explain how absolving Hunter Biden of guilt for past crimes spanning 11 years could force him to testify against his father in the future if called before a Congressional committee.
“When Joe, the president, takes this pardon all the way back to 2014, that covers Burisma, but there's more out there. There's no doubt about it,” Strong said. “You got the cocaine covered, you got the IRS covered, you got the weapons felony covered. Just go down the list. I'm sure he's got some other stuff out there.”
He continued, “But think about this pardon. It might work in our favor because when he pardons him, we can call him back before Congress, and I don't believe he can invoke to take the fifth. So that means he would have to answer the questions because that's the thing, is by getting the pardon, he cannot invoke the Fifth Amendment, is my understanding. So get ready. Which committee's first?”
Strong also praised several of President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet picks and said he was "100%" confident U.S. Space Command would be coming to Huntsville.
