U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) will be in Birmingham this Saturday for a town hall event hosted by the Jefferson County Democratic Party and the liberal political action committee, Blueprint Alabama.
Booker will be joined by U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham) and former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) for a “conversation centered on courage, organizing, and the collective power of communities to create lasting change.”
“I’m excited to return to Alabama, because the people of Alabama are no strangers to confronting the kind of moral moment America is in right now,” Booker said in an official statement. "In every part of our country, Americans are facing the same kinds of hardships: struggling to get by, disgusted by the corruption in our political system, and yearning for bold change."
"That’s why I’m looking forward to joining Alabamians for a conversation about the challenges we’re facing, the importance of organizing everywhere to create change in our communities, and how we stand up together to chart a better path forward for our country," he added.
The town hall is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Organizers have stated that its location will be released 24 hours prior to the event to attendees who have RSVP'd.
