The assassination attempt on President Donald Trump’s life shocked the conscience of the American people. That terrible act of evil was the sad result of dangerous rhetoric that has pitted Americans against one another for far too long.
Democrats and the media have spent eight years calling Trump a fascist and a dictator. Last December, the Washington Post published several articles comparing Trump to Adolf Hitler. Just this month, The New Republic released an article titled “What American Fascism Would Look Like” with an image of Trump’s face made to look like Hitler. These are just a few examples from a long list of the media’s reckless portrayals of Trump.
And let’s not forget when President Joe Biden delivered his “battle for the soul of the nation” speech. There, Biden proclaimed that “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” He depicted MAGA Republicans as “insurrectionists who placed a dagger to the throat of our democracy.”
This kind of language is not only a flat-out lie, but it is incredibly dangerous – and almost resulted in Trump getting killed. The American people realize that the assassin’s bullet was an inch away from a far more tragic and dangerous situation in our country.
They also know that the bullet was intended for Trump but was meant for them – the patriotic, working-class citizens who have supported him through thick and thin. It was by the grace of God, as Trump told me himself, that he was spared that terrible day. The American people believe that, and so do I.
It's time for the media, the deep state operatives, and the career politicians to get out of the way. Let the American people unify. They are the ones who have prevented us from coming together as a nation. The American people recognize that a house divided against itself will not stand. The American people are following Trump’s example and will answer his call for unity.
Over the last four years, it has become clear that our divided America is on the wrong path. Not only because of the false and overheated rhetoric, but because of Biden’s divisive policies. This includes the left-wing policies of endless spending, open borders, and a weak foreign policy.
That is why, at the convention this week, I was proud to cast all 50 of Alabama’s delegates for President Donald J. Trump. Alabamians remember what it was like just four years ago when Trump was in office. People enjoyed good-paying jobs, safe neighborhoods, low gas prices and a secure border. Now as he is running for his second term, Trump continues to present an alternative vision that will benefit ALL Americans.
For the economy, Trump will end the socialist policies of the current administration and turn off the spending faucet. Under Trump’s administration, we saw his pro-market and pro-growth policies allow the American middle class to flourish.
Alabamians felt the benefits of these policies firsthand. Under Trump, the working class could provide for their families and save for retirement. Blue collar wages rose faster than white collar wages. Americans of all colors, creeds and classes thrived.
Under this administration, the middle class has been crushed and their savings have withered away. The annual inflation level has skyrocketed to a 40-year high and real wages have decreased. The average American needs to make an additional $13,000 a year just to maintain the lifestyle they had during Trump’s presidency. Today, two-thirds of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Credit card debt in our country has soared to a near all-time high of over $1 trillion.
As for our borders, President Trump will bring an end to open borders and mass amnesty – which is a war on the American people. Under Trump, the U.S. experienced the safest and most secure border in our nation’s history. And we will achieve this again.
As a direct result of Joe Biden’s bad policies, dangerous illegal aliens are murdering innocent American citizens. Terrorists are roaming free in the homeland. There is in an endless stream of fentanyl flooding our communities, killing our sons and daughters. Illegals are stealing Americans’ jobs.
Trump will not allow the radical plan of open borders to continue. He stands firmly against the left’s plans to alter the nation’s population so Democrat elites can remain in permanent control of our country. Trump, like Alabama, rejects this vision for our country. He knows that if we don’t have borders, we don’t have a country.
Finally, Trump will fight tirelessly to end forever wars and bring back a military that is 100% focused on being the most lethal fighting force in the world. Under Trump, the world was at peace. Whether you consider the abolishment of ISIS, de-escalation with North Korea, or peace treaties signed all over the Middle East, other countries knew that Trump meant business. We had no new foreign entanglements, and our military was respected.
Under the Biden administration, we witnessed the disastrous and deadly Kabul retreat resulting in the death of 13 U.S. service members and the abandonment of thousands of Americans in Afghanistan.
We’ve sent billions of taxpayer dollars to prolong the devastating conflict in Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands have died as a result and the Biden administration seems to have no strategy or end in sight.
Our ally Israel has come under siege by Hamas. We haven’t seen a serious attempt by this administration to deter the threats Israelis are facing.
The world has become a more dangerous place the last four years. Trump will restore stability, security and military greatness again.
Trump is America’s champion. He is fearless in the face of evil. Even after a bullet grazed his ear, his first instinct in that moment was to reassure his supporters that he was okay and to encourage them to continue to fight for our country. I can’t think of a more potent message right now as our country is on the brink of disaster.
As we did in 2016 and 2020, Alabama pledges its unwavering support for Trump. Together we will renew our economy, secure our sovereignty and project strength in the eyes of the world. President Trump, with Alabama by his side, is going to Make America Great Again.
