UAB senior Sierra Frazier was selected the Conference USA Player of the Year, and first-year head coach AJ Daugherty was honored as the conference coach of the year.
Frazier was the lone Blazer on the All-CUSA first team. Sophomore Olivia Valbak, sophomore Bella Wiggins and junior Leigha Kirby were second-team selections, while Hannah Miles and Caitlin Russell were part of the C-USA freshman all-conference team.
For the second time in program history, a Blazer is the C-USA player of the year. Caitlin Attfield was selected in 2015. Marla Townsend was selected as the coach of the year in 2006 and 2013.
Frazier is an all-conference player for the fourth consecutive season. This season, she hit .328 with 44 hits, 44 RBIs, 12 home runs and a slugging percentage of 0.679. Daugherty led his team to a 29-23 record, and the Blazers had a chance to win the C-USA heading into the final weekend of the season.
The Blazers, as the No. 2 seed, received a bye into the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals in Ruston, Louisiana. The tournament begins on Wednesday, and the Blazers' first game is scheduled for Thursday at noon.
